Weather Incident Cases
- Volcanic weather and seismic activity
- Recent volcanic activity in Chile has resulted in a string of unusual deaths. Reports from the area claim that seismic activity occurs frequently around the volcano. Lightning is also observed around the volcanic areas (may be unrelated to seismic activity/deaths). This case remains unsolved and further investigation is needed on the phenomenon responsible for the seismic activity.
- Falling fish
- Strange rain fell upon the Northern Australian region on the afternoon of February 21, 2012. Along with the normal precipitation, fish fell from the skies. The closest body of water was 200 miles away. We are currently investigating potential causes and will release a report with our findings.
- Upward lightning
- Rapid City, South Dakota, September 2012. Upward lightning struck the city and caused distress among people in the town. Upward lightning sometimes occurs during a storm, but it is highly unusual. Research has hinted at the possibility that high rise buildings could be the cause, but more research and data is needed. We already have several leading theories and plan to release a report at the end of the year.
- Snow devil
- Revelstoke, Canada, January 1st, 2008. A snow devil formed at the base of a mountain and maintained form for 40-75 minutes. Locals were surprised by the sight and described the phenomenon as a ghostly whirlwind. The snow devil formation was thought to be caused by the heat released from some nearby rocks, but there are several data points we are currently researching.
- Lightning snow storm
- Chicago, Illinois, February 1st 2011. A snow storm hit Chicago and caused several flights to become grounded. But, unlike other snowstorms, this came with roaring thunder and lightning. This is a very rare phenomenon and we are preparing to release a report on the conditions surrounding the storm.
- Ball lightning
- An unidentified ball of light was spotted in Lyons, Colorado, June 2001. This phenomenon is known as “ball lightning”. At the moment, scientists do not completely comprehend this phenomenon and we are planning to make this a part of our current research schedule. We promise to investigate this case of ball lightning and will bring you the most up to date information in a new report.
